To Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour

Put Mississippi Families First

We, the undersigned citizens of Mississippi, along with those of us from across the United States who have deeply rooted concerns for the hardworking Americans who are struggling every day to afford basic necessities such as food, housing and transportation, ask you to accept the unemployment insurance (UI) funds in the recently-passed stimulus package.

The federal stimulus package offers Mississippi a $56-million opportunity to help 39,600 hardworking Mississippians weather the recession - without committing the state to any future tax increases.

This $56 million in Federal funds will generate more than $120 million in economic activity in the hard-hit local economies throughout the great state of Mississippi. We ask you to put politics aside and put Mississippi families first and accept this UI money.
